You don’t want to see
I don’t need on this end of the beach
Tourist past the cobblestone
will travel back home
to possessions, but I need none
It’s just me and I am free

among the dogs whose only plan
to roam without a home

I am free
free as I want to be

I spent my whole life achieving worldly possessions, home, furniture, car, all in fear of homelessness. So why do I now envy the bum sleeping on the beach beside me? I never even knew that being a bum was a true option. I guess here in Mexico you’re not going to freeze to death and sand is a soft place to rest the head. I don’t see any policia running him off, nor does anyone care there are loose dogs on the beach. They exude the happiness and freedom  that we all want to feel. But how free are you if you’re a pug dressed in a tutu? LOL  

Does bum know the taste of lobster and steak?
Does princess know where to stoop to poop?

How much life have I learned in a cubicle? How free am I when I have to conform to society? Maybe that is the attraction, to have the knowing that you don’t have to conform and the bravery enough to do so (not conform). So at any time in my life why did I not migrate to a warm beach and be a bum? I still might? I don’t know where you can sleep on the beach in the USA. I’m also scared for my safety amongst the mentally ill in the homeless population. Surely the drive foe social success is so that I can have the best of both worlds?but when I leave the beach vacation, it’s over. What do I go back to? Just to plan another vacation and count the days. 

I still have breakfast caught in my teeth. Did the bum have breakfast, or does he even have teeth? What will he carry with him when he wakes? Do we all judge him as we step over him?is being a bum an actual life choice or is it substantiated by circumstance? Would interviewing him be an insult? I’ve lived my life in society, can I now live like Bill, the retired traveling Canadian looks like a bum? Where does a bum get drinking water?
